Donald A. Schumacher, NCARB

As the son of a carpenter, Don has always been interested in the built environment with the approach of learning by doing. Mixed with the artistic skills of his mother, architecture was his eventual calling.

Educated in the practice of architecture and design at The Ohio State University graduating Magna Cum Laude. Don obtained his initial experience under the tutelage of Gary J. Alexander, Architect. Producing plans and renderings for custom remodels and multi-family projects. A year later he joined Abbot & Abbot Architects P.L.L., now Abbot Studios, LLC.

During his more than two decades with Abbot Studios LLC., Don completed numerous projects within the single-family, multi-family, commercial, educational, municipal and retail sectors of the profession.

Being versed in all genre of projects and types of construction has honed Don’s passion for renewing the built environment through renovations. This experience has been vital to understanding and anticipating the existing conditions unforeseen on the surface.

During the last 8+ years at his previous firm Don specialized on Retail tenant fit-outs for local and national retail chain companies. For one national retail chain he became their preferred Architect for some of their most difficult projects across the United States as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, Japan, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Australia. With his expansive experience these retailers contracted him to complete several of their Brand Master sets of drawings for Domestic and Foreign Architects.

Currently licensed to practice Architecture in Arizona and Ohio

The firm’s namesake is an ode to my father Chester D. Schumacher. Just don’t tell my wife, she thinks it our initials put together!
